The State Research Center, the I.P. Bardin Central Research Institute of Ferrous Metallurgy

The Institute conducts research in metal science, metallurgical technology, and the physics of metals. Its key areas of activity are:

 ·         Development and improvement of metallurgical production technologies, including ferroalloy and steelmaking, steel ladle treatment, continuous casting, production of coated sheet metal;

·         Development of new steel grades and production technologies for various industries, including oil and gas industry, rail and road transport, construction, chemical industries, and others;

·         Development of new powder materials, amorphous and other metallic materials, production technologies for special-purpose products;

·         Economic research in the ferrous metallurgy industry, etc.

The Institute has research centers and laboratories, including the Metaltest Scientific Testing Center, the Center for Retraining and Advanced Training, the Center for Standardization and Certification of Metal Products, the Scientific Engineering Center, and others.

The instruments at TsNIIChermet allow the analysis of various metals and alloys at the atomic level. The Metaltest Scientific Testing Center includes laboratories for chemical, mechanical and metallographic examination. It also offers additional capabilities for determining physical and physicochemical properties and parameters of materials and assessing corrosion resistance.

The Institute holds professional training at the Center for Retraining and Advanced Training.
